ART: Environment Design Part 2

The last 2 weeks Ive been focusing on the environment, visualizing our world full of wild plant life thats taken over an ancient racing course.

Alot of the plants will be stretching above and over the race track to give the players things to drive under, like bridges. So when they drive fast below the plants theyll get more of a feeling of speed because of the objects flashing by.

Ive gone for very saturated colors and alot of round and curly shapes, making our world feel very fun and playful.

I also want to color code the race course into 3-4 colors so players can easily see in which part of the map they are by looking at the color of the plants around them. So they dont have to rely on the mini map so much.

Smaller plants will also be in the middle of the road to slow players down. Unless they are heavy, in which you'll crush them and keep on going.

Its been a fun challenge making these environments because they are very different to what I normally make.

Some plants will be interactive for the players helping them or obstructing them in the race. Bouncing them up to high places that are normally hard to get to or bumbing them off the road.

Left over pieces of an ancient animal civilization will act as ramps/ bridges and obstacles. Theyll also tell a story of the ancient races that were held here.
